Carbon-carbon composites (C/C) are
a material made from carbon fiber reinforced carbon matrix. C/C
is light, strong, and can withstand temperatures over 2000 ºC
without any loss in performance. This gives C/C many advantages
over other materials such as ceramics, metal, and plastics.

Applications of C/C
C/C is porous and can be infused with metal reinforcements to obtain
a blend of carbon and metallic characteristics while still maintaining
a carbon matrix structure. These carbon/carbon metal composites
(C/CM) can be infused with metals such
as aluminum, titanium, silicon, and bronze combine with C/C to produce
unique benefits. These combinations and benefits allow for three
important applications or areas of use.
