Dustless Transmissions
CRG Industries, together with an off-shore supplier, now provide
non-contact drive transmission mechanisms for atmospheric, high-vacuum
and ultra-high vacuum environments. These drive transmission mechanisms
answer the demand for cleanliness in production lines. The new mechanisms
generate no dust, operate almost silently and boast a long service
life.
Dirt and impurities floating in the atmosphere are the enemies
of manufacturing advanced, refined electronic components. Fatal
damage can occur when dust or gas enters a high-vacuum environment.
The ultimate goal is to eliminate the fine dirt and impurities which
occur when objects are transferred. Non-contact transmitting mechanisms
were developed as a dust countermeasure. Industries in need of clean,
dust-free mechanisms, including medical instruments, medical supplies,
cosmetics, chemicals, foodstuffs, and electronics, will benefit
from this breakthrough technology.
Benefits
Non-contact transmissions provide the following benefits in the
manufacturing process:
- Ultra-low dust scattering: Special magnets mounted at 90-degree
angles change the transmission force direction without direct
contact, drastically reducing the generation of contamination
particles.
- Low gas generation: The special coating does not release gas
in atmospheric or vacuum environments.
- Ultra-low noise: The no-contact design assures extremely quiet
operation compared with conventional or belt conveyor mechanisms.
- Serving torque limiters: If an abnormal load occurs, the two
magnets rotate independently, serving as torque limiters and preventing
damage.
- Low cost: The magnets can be modified and replaced without
special processing. Alternating use in both atmospheric and vacuum
environments presents no problem.
